The PhD Program in Human-centered Precision Medicine is governed by the University Regulations for Doctoral Programmes and by the Program’s Internal Regulations.

Teaching activities are carried out in accordance with the Manifesto of Studies, while the research activities of doctoral candidates must comply with the University of Trento’s Code of Ethics.

For clinical studies involving participants in the facilities of the Integrated University Health Authority of Trentino, doctoral students must submit their proposal to the Territorial Ethics Committee of the Autonomous Province of Trento for clinical trials (CET-PAT). For preclinical studies or observational studies on healthy participants, research protocols must be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee (CER) and the Animal Welfare Body (OPBA), respectively.

Before submitting a research protocol for ethical review by the CER, researchers are required to complete the Ethics Self-Assessment (ESA) questionnaire. The purpose of the ESA is to support researchers in evaluating the level of ethical risk associated with their research protocol and to determine whether the protocol must be reviewed and by which competent body.

Period Abroad

  • Mandatory stay of at least 3 months at a research institution abroad (maximum 12 months, subject to a positive evaluation by the Supervisor Committee).
  • Increase of the fellowship during the period abroad (instructions on how to apply for the increase).

Research Funds

  • 10% of the fellowship (disbursed annually), to be used for research missions, experiments, and extracurricular training activities.
