Enrolment in the PhD programme is not compatible with simultaneous enrolment in other PhD programmes or similar educational initiatives abroad, except in cases of joint supervision of theses governed by specific individual agreements between the Universities involved.
Enrolment in the PhD programme is compatible with simultaneous enrolment in bachelor's degree programmes, master's degree programmes, non-medical specialisation courses, first and second level master's degrees in Italy or similar educational initiatives abroad.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 7 of D.M. No. 226 of 14 December 2021, simultaneous attendance of the Doctoral Programme in Human-centred Precision Medicine and a Medical Specialisation School is permitted, provided that the following conditions are met:
- Compatibility assessment: concurrent enrollment is subject to verification of compatibility between the two training programmes, with particular regard to workload, compulsory attendance, distance between locations and planned clinical and research activities.
- This compatibility must be formally certified by two concurring resolutions: one by the Specialisation School Council, authorising joint attendance; and one by the Doctoral Programme Committee, defining the integration procedures and the individual doctoral activity plan.
- Personalised study plan: in the case of simultaneous attendance, the Doctoral Programme Committee may decide to remodel the training and scientific production requirements, without reducing the overall level of training, in order to allow the proper conduct of clinical and research activities.
- No reduction in the compulsory activities required by the Specialisation School is permitted.
- Financial arrangements: simultaneous attendance does not entitle the student to combine a specialist training contract with a doctoral scholarship. Specialisation students who have been awarded a scholarship may enrol in the Doctorate programme by renouncing the doctoral scholarship, while maintaining the specialist training contract.
The duration of the Programme may be reduced to two years, instead of three, in cases of joint attendance of the PhD Programme and the Medical Specialisation School, subject to the opinion of the Doctoral Programme Committee, which may decide to recognise documented training or research activities carried out during the specialisation, consistent with the objectives of the Doctoral Programme and of an adequate scientific level.
